UNDERSTANDING Convo: From Orphanhood to Sonship w/ David Kosobucki
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this heartfelt episode of the Canyon Pathways Podcast, host Luke Smith welcomes David Kosobucki into a vulnerable conversation about fatherhood, faith, and the deep journey from comprehension to true understanding.
Together, they unpack the painful realities of fatherlessness and the long road toward discovering God—not as a distant concept—but as a loving, present Father. David shares moving stories from his childhood, his grief journey, the music that stirred something deeper in him, and a wild season of Bible smuggling that brought faith into sharp focus.
At the heart of this conversation is the invitation to live like a son—not an orphan—no matter your background or how late you come to it. The Father is always waiting.
Key Takeaways:
- Understanding is different from comprehension—it’s personal, not just intellectual.
- Faith is relational, not about rules or knowledge.
- 40% of men grow up without a father, and that absence shapes identity.
- Sonship begins with accepting God’s love, not earning it.
- Fatherlessness isn’t the end of the story—God is bigger than your fatherless problem.
- Personal transformation often begins in unlikely places—a song, a conversation, a crisis.
- Mission, community, and calling emerge when we understand whose sons we are.
- It’s never too late to seek God and discover your identity.
